ADULT Summer

Chinese Basic Traditional Ink Painting & Calligraphy
Mini Class (4 weeks)

In this 4 week mini class participants will have a one of a kind artistic experience, learning traditional Chinese ink painting and calligraphy from artist and instructor Jingyu Zhang.  Jingyu learned this beautiful art form at his home in China and now we are lucky enough to have him at our studio to share this beautiful art form with our students.  Students will learn Chinese calligraphy lettering for a variety of words and phrases, as well as learning the art of ink painting images to accompany their lettering.   We have imported all tools and materials right from China, including traditional brushes, inks and rice papers.  All materials and use of tools is included in the cost of the class.  This class is open to all levels of creative people.

In this oil painting class students will take a closer look at Impressionism through the eyes of its creator, Claude Monet.  Learn to observe real natural colours and light in the objects we see everyday, through the observation and study of Monet’s masterful work, Waterlilies.  Students will learn how to choose oil paint colours and mix oil colours for their own water lilies inspired paintings.   Students will learn basics of how to hold and use their brushes to achieve certain brushwork styles and techniques.  This class is open to all levels of creative people.

Pottery Camp for adults!! 

Four days of making pottery! All skills levels welcome.  This four day pottery workshop will include basic instruction, 1 - 44 lbs box of clay and all bisque firing of the pieces you make.  Glazing will be done as a separate workshop.

Summer Pottery - studio time

This summer studio session will be an open studio style class.  This is for students who have taken pottery in the past and want to spend time in the studio working independently on their skills.  There will be NO FORMAL INSTRUCTION during the studio time, but the instructor will be on hand to help out if needed.  While working at the studio participants will have full use of the tools equipment and wheels.  

Included in the studio time fee:  one - 44 lbs box of M340 high fire clay, as well as bisque firing of all pieces made during studio time.  

NOTE* - Glazing workshop dates will be posted separately.
